Developmental Editing Service

I will read for pacing, plot, clarity, arc, characterization, overall positives, and areas for improvement. I’ll offer suggestions for major structural changes if necessary. This service comes with inline comments as well as a final in-depth report. I am happy to answer follow up questions within a reasonable timeframe.

I can usually offer a two-week turnaround on projects less than 100k. To discuss a project, get a quote, or to book with me, please contact me using the contact form.

Why choose me as your developmental editor?

I have over a decade of experience in independent publishing and working with small traditional presses.

I’ve published over two dozen novels from 2014-2024.

I have short stories in various magazines and anthologies including Mystery Magazine Weekly, Punk Noir, Thriller101.com, The Motley Writer’s Guild, and The Keepthings—an online storytelling platform created by a former head editor at O Magazine.

Since 2019, I’ve worked with Pikko’s Editing House where I perform full manuscript critiques, developmental edits, and beta reads offering suggestions to writers on character development, story arc, tone, pacing, and next step editorial recommendations.

Relevant coursework includes Fiction Writing 101 from The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis in addition to Berkeley Professional Editing Sequence Grammar, Mechanics, and Usage for Editors.

Genres

I am very comfortable working with the following genres: general fiction, commercial or book club fiction, mysteries, thrillers, suspense, historical, romance, speculative, or science fiction. I am not a good fit for fantasy, experimental, poetry, non-fiction, political, military, or erotica.
